DRINK TO A HEALTHY HEART...

In September's edition of Top Santé magazine, pomegranate juice is recommended in their "top five heart alternatives to sweet drinks":

"A study of 90,000 women, published in the American Journal Of Clinical Nutrition, found that drinking just two sugary drinks a day increases insulin resistance, making you 35% more likely to suffer from coronary heart disease. Check out our top five heart alternatives to sweet drinks:

1. GREEN TEA - It's packed with antioxidants, and studies have shown drinking five mugs a day could reduce your risk of coronary artery disease by 16%.

2. POMEGRANATE JUICE - This contains more antioxidants than most other fruit juices, so is a great choice for mopping up the free radicals that can damage cells.

3. WATER - It's cheap, hydrating and calorie free - plus you can jazz it up with a squeeze of lemon or lime if you fancy a change.

4. SEMI-SKIMMED MILK - Research reveals that adding reduced-fat dairy products to a diet that's low in salt, but packed with fruit and veg, helps to lower blood pressure, a major risk factor for heart disease.

5. RED WINE - The antioxidants in a small glass a day could reduce your risk, by helping to prevent the build up of plaque in the arteries.
