  • I find I'm more confident when I know I look my best, both where it shows and where it doesn't! So on big meetings or nights out, it's the best lingerie for me. I feel glam and it boosts my confidence no end!

  • Every day, go for a short walk, take time in looking at the scenery. Better still, get a dog, its amazing how many dog walkers stop to chat.
  • Join a club, I recently joined the local flower club "rather boring I thought", but no the raffle prizes are great, the demonstrations are good, older people have lots of tips, tales etc.
  • I try and attend my local gym at least twice a week, the aqua class has brought me lots of new friends (another feel good factor) we also motivate each other not to miss a class: "sick note required".
  • Life is short, try to cram as much in as possible, try not to be too miserable, a smile is usually infectious.

  • I find it helps to listen to great mood lifting music. Dancing around the living room and singing raises the feel good factor.
  • Talking and laughing with friends, is one of THE best confidence builders. There is nothing that laughter cant cure. The odd glass of wine and sharing a slice of cake with friends too. Yum yum!

  • Choose something you are really good at or enjoy and research it, practise it and become an expert in it. The confidence gained can only grow as achievement breeds confidence. For example, love books? Read them then review them and create your own blog (worked for me!), then contact publishers and get yourself known for your reviews. I'm now co-runner of a review website which should go live soon.
  • Or how about being good at a sport? why not set yourself a target such as running a marathon, or joining a team? Musical instrument? Go for the exams and get your grades. Love gardening? Why not redesign your garden and open it to the public for charity. Cooking? Why not create a brand new recipe, send it to publishers/chefs/restaurants and see if they like it - or host a dinner party for charity.

Frances from Lancashire:

  • My best tip about achieving self-confidence is to increase your physical fitness. If your fitness level isn't good, you begin to feel tired, lethargic, lazy and unattractive. Working out helps to improve physical appearance, you energise yourself and become a more positive person. Gaining the discipline to work out creates a positive momentum that carries you through the day.
