Getting a good nights sleep
Getting a good nights sleep
One of the biggest challenges in today’s constant “on the go” lifestyle coupled with the tough economic climate, is the difficulty to simply get a good nights sleep. In many occupations there are worries about work and job security often bringing increased stress. Add to this time management issues and family commitments and you have a cocktail guaranteed to cause its fair share of sleepless nights.
Sleep Loss
The effect of sleep loss depends on the amount of sleep you have lost, age, personality and even the time of night you lose the sleep. Delta sleep, the first 4-5 hours of sleep are vital to repair the bodies systems and replenish your energy reserves. Studies show that the loss of even one nights sleep is likely to result in fatigue, irritability, inability to concentrate and mood shifts. Long repetitive tasks will suffer the next day after a poor nights sleep compared with shorter more interesting tasks.
The alcohol nightcap
This might lull you to sleep, but it won't produce a good nights sleep, its more likely to produce light unsettled sleep, add to this dehydration and thirst during the middle of the night after alcohol, plus an increased likelihood to suddenly snap awake with the potential for irritable heart rhythms and the nightcap can leave you drained and sluggish the next morning.
Sleeping from the heart
- Firstly focus on your heart and try to imagine a deep and sustained slow rhythm to its beat. Visualization of this effect will often help to slow and regulate its rhythm
- Then concentrate on breathing in & out using slightly deeper and more sustained breaths compared with your usual respiratory rate. It helps if you imagine you are actually breathing through your heart. Again visualization is the key
- Finally as you do these choose an emotional experience you associate with relaxation and tranquillity and try to imagine you're actually living that experience there and then. You will be amazed how this helps you to be calm and more likely to fall to sleep.
Napping
Napping strikes half of us either intentionally or it “just happens naturally". The urge strikes often mid afternoon after lunch, so avoid big lunches. Also our bodies experience a slight drop in temperature mid afternoon, part of our internal biorhythms inducing a sleep like state. If you have to nap:
- The ideal nap time is between 2 – 3 pm.
- Don’t start regularly napping to deliberately catch up on lost sleep
- Afternoon naps can give you just enough deep sleep to feel refreshed
- Nap for 40 minutes maximum, ( the “40 winks principal”), anymore leaves you feeling groggy
Summary
If you continue to have sleep problems then you may benefit from some medication to help you fall asleep like L Tryptophan (an amino acid), the body converts this to serotonin a neurotransmitter or brain chemical that help regulate sleep. There are many such medications that can help you sleep but they should only be taken with the advice of a physician and should only be used in a very temporary way to help restore your natural sleep patterns without having to continue with such medications. Remember sleep is as important as the right diet and moderate regular exercise to cope with the busy pressures and lifestyles that go with living in the new millennium.

I wanted to get in touch to let you know how much I love your juices! I have been a fan of pomegreat for about 8 years and I love it.
It's so tasty and refreshing and it's great to be able to enjoy pomegranates without all the fiddly seeds!
I've tried other brands of pomegranate juice over the years, usually because they are a wee bit cheaper, but have always been dissapointed and never bother trying anything else now! Nothing tastes as nice and pomeGreat is well worth the money!
I've tried all the different flavours but my favourite is original.
In summer I pour it into ice lolly moulds and freeze it for a healthy, natural alternative to ice lollies. It tastes brilliant and is perfect on a hot day!

The taste is just perfect, it is not too sweet or too bitter as some can be. The carton is nice too, I especially like the colours and simple design, which definitely grabs the attention, and the price is not bad either!
Overall a great product! The first one actually that did live up to my expectations ![]()
Well Done and keep up the good work!

I was recently introduced to your juice by my Aunty. I loved it straight away and it's now a regular on my shopping list.
I'm not normally a fan of fruit juices as I find them a little strong but PomeGreat has the perfect balance. It's a fantastic product as its allows me to give my body some extra goodness whilst feeling like a refreshing treat.
Thank you very much for having the passion to bring this product to the market.

I was looking for a healthy juice drink to try the other day as I’m not usually a juice drinker and ended up purchasing your PomeGreat juice drink. I found the taste most enjoyable as it wasn’t too sweet for my palate and was very refreshing. I am looking forward to trying the other flavours!

We have just started purchasing your products and we both love the taste!
My husband used to buy another juice but stopped when they withdrew his favourite flavour, he bought your juice from Sainsburys, just to try it, and now he's found a juice to replace the cranberry!
Here's to enjoying your juice for a long time!

Thank you for this wonderful drink it is amazing and a great thirst quencher!
I do not usually drink cold drinks, I mainly drink tea and coffee, but this is so good. In fact it is so good that one hot day at work I really fancied a cold drink, I'd seen this product on the shelves and thought I'd give it a go. I drank the whole 1litre carton which was not enough but I had no break left to grab another so thank you to the beautiful people who have brought this drink into my life!

"I have just been on your website, and thought I would give you a little feedback on the juices.
I have tried PomeGreat quite a few times, and also PomeGreat with Blueberry. I did find the one with Blueberry too sweet for me, although I can imagine it would appeal to teenagers and children with a sweet tooth!
I do love the PomeGreat Original though. It tastes lovely and packaged with pomegranates!
Thank you for making such a yummy and healthy 'real' fruit drink!"

Please may I send you the following suggestion for drinking this juice.
On the 1 litre cartons, it states that this juice is best served chilled. I would suggest that you are missing an opportunity here. This drink is even more delicious when served HOT, the same temperature as a cup of tea.
I simply pour a mug of this juice (with nothing else added of course), and heat it in the microwave until it is hot like a mug of tea. I would suggest that it is worth mentioning this on the carton, as it is so warming, soothing and delicious.
After drinking just one mug of hot pomegranate juice one actually feels good.
Red fruits do after all heat well, and can also be served mulled of course.
I would be most interested to hear what you have to say on this, as this suggestion on the carton would surely boost sales even further."

I recently bought your PomeGreat juice to try, I like pomegranates but they can be a mess to eat!
I thought you juice was delicious, and tasted just like pomegranates, which may sound like an odd thing to say but many juice products taste very artificial.
I was very impressed and will be enjoying your juice more often now. It is perfect with my breakfast to get me off to a good start in the mornings.
Thanks.
